Job TitleNurse Practitioner (Permanent chance)Start DateImmediateHoursUp to 10 hours, shifts include rotational day, evening and night shifts as required.Salary$41.69 to $69.13 per hour.LocationKingstonPurposeBring your knowledge and experience to St. Lawrence Youth Association (SLYA) to work with young persons in conflict with the law. The PHCNP reports to the Director of Residential Services and is responsible for the overall health and well‑being of clients in the association's residential care. The PHCNP promotes health protection and quality care delivery and is self‑regulated by the College of Nurses in Ontario. The role involves direct clinical practice, use of a holistic perspective, therapeutic partnership with the client, expert critical thinking, reflective practice, and evidence‑based practice. It also includes expert coaching, consultation, research, leadership, collaboration, and ethical decision‑making.Mandatory RequirementsRegistered with the Ontario College of Nurses at the extended class levelClinical experience in a variety of health care settings (pediatric, women’s health, mental health)Ability to work independentlyValid Province of Ontario ‘G’ Driver’s LicenseCriminal reference check with Broad Record Check reportDuties & ResponsibilitiesPerform comprehensive health assessments, physical and psychosocial assessment of clients and develop and implement a plan of care.Consult with other health care professionals when the client’s condition requires care beyond the scope of practice.
Provide counselling and patient teaching.Use multiple assessment strategies and critical thinking skills to guide decision‑making in complicated, unpredictable and volatile situations.Prescribe medications, radiography, diagnostic tests, draw blood, and read ECG in accordance with the Standards of Practice.Implement strategies to promote health and prevent illness.Refer clients to other providers or programs according to needs.Implement best practice guidelines to maintain quality of care (e.G. writing policies).Communicate health care needs to staff as required.Mentor other learners (nursing and medical).Manage health‑care inventory and equipment maintenance (e.G. sterilization, vaccines).Maintain confidential medical records in compliance with standards.Provide consultative services to Dietary and Health & Safety of Association.EducationProof of education degree in a relevant field of study and/or 3 years of experience.AssetBilingualism.EEO StatementSt. Lawrence Youth Association is committed to fostering a barrier‑free, accessible hiring process that ensures the inclusion of all qualified talents.
