About the Chance
This opportunity is for experienced civic and public administration professionals to contribute their expertise to an advanced AI research and evaluation project with Mercor.
You will design realistic public-sector scenarios, develop reference outputs, and create evaluation rubrics that reflect how experienced government and civic leaders approach complex challenges. The work focuses on public policy, government operations, regulatory processes, constituent services, intergovernmental relations, public communications, and public accountability across federal, state, and major municipal environments.
Responsibilities
- Construct realistic public-sector scenarios involving budget appropriations, multi-agency coordination, regulatory review, and legislative processes.
- Develop evaluation tasks covering public policy analysis, constituent services, intergovernmental relations, public communications, and regulatory compliance.
- Create public administration scenarios reflecting real-world government workflows and operational challenges.
- Develop scenarios involving government ERP and case management systems, public records platforms, GIS systems, and constituent relationship management tools.
- Apply public administration frameworks such as policy impact analysis, cost-benefit analysis, administrative rulemaking, and stakeholder engagement.
- Produce reference materials including policy briefs, agency strategies, executive communications, and legislative communications.
- Develop structured evaluation rubrics that measure authentic public-sector judgment and decision-making.
- Review AI-generated outputs for accuracy, feasibility, policy reasoning, and understanding of government processes.
- Identify weaknesses in AI responses and distinguish practical government expertise from generic bureaucratic or textbook-level reasoning.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in a senior capacity within federal, state, or major municipal government.
- Experience within a public policy, civic technology, intergovernmental, or comparable public-sector organization may also be relevant.
- Direct responsibility for government programs, public policy initiatives, or large-scale constituent-facing services.
- Strong understanding of government operations, public administration, and policy processes.
- Familiarity with public budgeting, procurement, legislative review, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to analyze complex public-sector challenges and apply sound professional judgment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to develop clear, structured, and evidence-based professional outputs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working across federal, state, and/or municipal government environments.
- Background in public policy, public administration, civic technology, or intergovernmental affairs.
- Familiarity with government technology platforms, including ERP, case management, GIS, public records, or CRM systems.
- Experience developing policy briefs, agency strategies, executive communications, or legislative materials.
- Experience with policy impact analysis, cost-benefit analysis, administrative rulemaking, or stakeholder engagement.
- Prior experience creating rubrics, public-sector training curricula, or policy documentation.
- Experience evaluating professional or AI-generated content is a plus.
Compensation
- $50–$60/hour
- Hourly contract engagement.
