Your New Employer Our client is a well-established and expanding real estate platform with a portfolio of institutional-quality office assets across major Ontario markets, including a strong presence in the GTA and Ottawa. The business is growing through acquisitions and additional third-party property management mandates, making the accounting function central and increasingly complex. The platform maintains a disciplined and well-structured accounting environment with a strong focus on accuracy, controls, and best practices. The accounting team is highly collaborative, with low turnover and a strong emphasis on mentorship, professional development, and long-term career growth. Your New Role Reporting to the Director, Property Accounting, the Controller will take on a central leadership role overseeing financial reporting across a portfolio of fund-owned, co-owned, and select third-party assets. This is a well-rounded position combining technical accounting oversight, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of monthly and quarterly financial reporting, oversee year-end audit processes, and manage budgeting and forecasting cycles across the portfolio. Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures in accordance with GAAP; oversee cash calls, distributions, and HST compliance. Oversee property accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions; partner with asset management and property management teams to support financial performance, reporting, and investor inquiries. Support acquisitions, onboarding of new assets,



and integration of third-party mandates as the business expands. Lead and develop accounting staff, providing coaching, development, and performance management; foster a collaborative and accountable team environment. Drive systems and process improvements within a highly integrated Yardi environment to support enhancements, automation initiatives, and future system upgrades. What Sets You Apart CPA designation and at least 8 years of accounting experience, ideally in commercial real estate or a similar asset-based environment. Strong track record in leading teams, mentoring, coaching, and developing others while maintaining high reporting standards. Strong technical foundation in financial reporting, controls, and accounting principles; able to operate effectively in a structured, deadline-driven workplace. Effective communicator who can build relationships across teams and work with internal stakeholders and external partners. Experience with Yardi or similar ERP systems is strongly preferred, especially in environments using technology to drive efficiency and process improvement. Compensation & Benefits Base salary in the range of $130,000 to $155,000, with a target bonus of up to 15%. Four weeks of vacation and a comprehensive benefits program, including paramedical, dental, and prescription coverage starting on day one, plus full benefits (short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, pension participation) following probation. Work Arrangement This is a hybrid position based in Downtown Toronto, with employees typically working four days in the office and one day remotely.
