The Front Counter role is the friendly face customers see when they first walk into La Ruelle Bakery. This role is responsible for providing great customer service, serving and preparing bakery items, and helping keep the front of the bakery clean, organized, and welcoming.

You’ll work directly with customers throughout the day while helping ensure our baked goods and food are displayed, handled, and served with care.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

- Welcome and assist customers in a friendly and welcoming manner
- Answer questions about our baked goods, bread, and other menu items
- Take customer orders and process payments accurately
- Help create a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone visiting the bakery
- Represent La Ruelle Bakery with pride and enthusiasm

Food & Product Preparation

- Serve and package baked goods, bread, and other bakery items
- Prepare food and beverages as required
- Handle products carefully and follow proper food handling procedures
- Help restock displays and ensure products are presented neatly throughout the day

Cleanliness & Organization

- Keep the front counter, displays, seating areas, and other customer-facing spaces clean and organized
- Assist with cleaning dishes, equipment, and work areas as needed
- Following daily and monthly cleaning task lists properly
- Help maintain an efficient and welcoming bakery workplace




- Work closely with the bakery team to ensure customers are served efficiently
- Communicate clearly with team members about product availability and customer needs
- Assist with other daily tasks as needed to help the bakery run smoothly
- Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols

Schedule

This position's shifts usually cover the following times:

- Tuesday to Saturday
- Start times vary between 7:30am - 1:30pm and 11:30am - 5:30pm
- Specific scheduling details will be discussed with successful applicants

Wage

The wage for this position starts at $18.25 - $20 + shared tips. Based on experience.

Hours

Tues - Fri: 8am - 5pm

Saturday: 8am - 4pm

We'll have bread at the Nelson Farmers Market on Wednesday and Saturday

We're honoured to bake bread on the shared unceded territory of the Ktunaxa and Sinixt First Nations.
