About the Position

Seeking a highly skilled Web, ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, SQL Developer to maintain, enhance, and support a complex applications and processes ecosystem.

This role is critical to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of the core applications, including claims adjudication, provider submissions, eligibility APIs, reporting platforms, daily jobs, batch processes, and end-of-day systems.

The successful candidate will work across web applications, backend services, SQL databases, and reporting frameworks in a fast-paced healthcare benefits environment.

Key Responsibilities

Application Support & Maintenance

- Daily maintenance and support of a portfolio of web applications, stand-alone applications, services, and batch processes, including:
- Claims adjudication and provider systems
- Eligibility and API services
- Web portals and services
- Mobile applications integrations
- Integration with other applications (ex. Great Plains, Salesforce, Benefits Administration systems, document repositories – ex. Sentry File)
- Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis and solution implementation
- Manage web services (SOAP/REST) and IIS-hosted applications
- Secure application implementation and vulnerability remediations
- Batch processes, Power Shell scripts, Windows Scheduler.
- Support End-of-Day (EOD) processing and daily reporting tasks (daily balancing, file generations, printing - cheques, EOBs, etc.), file transfers, and support claims workflows

SQL Development & Database Management

- Design, develop, test, and optimize:
- Stored procedures, ER data models, scripts, functions, views, and queries-jQueries
- Data extracts, ETL processes, and client onboarding scripts and workflows
- Support databases including:
- Claims databases
- Reporting and portal databases
- Perform query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning
- Manage data loads (e.g., provider directory, claim history loads)





Web & API Development

- Design, develop, test and maintain:
- ASP.NET / .NET web applications and services
- REST and SOAP APIs
- Single-sign-on (SSO)
- Enhance portals and backend services supporting claims and providers
- Integrate systems with external partners (e.g., SFTP, Salesforce, third-party clients)
- Ensure security best practices (encryption, authentication, 2FA)
- Participate in modernization initiatives involving migration of legacy ASP.NET applications, SOAP services, and .NET Framework components to newer platforms and architectures.

DevOps, Testing & Release Management

- Participate in:
- Code reviews, tests, security reviews, vulnerability remediations and version control (Git, Visual Studio)
- Deployment and release cycles
- Use tools such as:
- SOAP UI, Postman for API testing
- WinMerge for code comparison
- WinSCP for file transfers
- GitHub and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, following organizational standards and security guidelines.
- Support server migrations, upgrades, and Disaster Recovery activities

Collaboration & Documentation

- Work with Business Analysts, QA, and stakeholders to:
- Gather requirements
- Design solutions
- Validate outputs
- Document system workflows, data flows, and technical designs
- Support knowledge transfer and onboarding of new team members
- Support compliance and audit activities

Reporting & SSRS/SSIS Development

- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot:
- SSRS/SSIS reports/packages and subscriptions
- Complex report queries and datasets
- Financial and operational reports (EFT, EOBs, claims summaries)
- SSRS/SSIS reports/packages and subscriptions




- Modify and enhance existing reports tied to claims processing systems and others
- Implement and Support Crystal Reports solution for cheque printing, Estimate of Benefits (EOB), financial documents, etc.
- Work with business users internal and external to validate report outputs and data accuracy

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills

Minimum of 7 years of software development experience.

- Strong experience with:
- SQL Server (T-SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning)
- Relational database design, data modeling, normalization, indexing strategies, query execution plans
- Web development experience in:
- C#, .NET, ASP.NET, Web APIs, VB.Net, MVC, jQuery, IIS, ADO.NET
- JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, JSON, AD, ODBC, MS Office, COM, DCOM, COM+
- GitHub, Visual Studio, .Net Framework
- Experience with:
- SOAP and REST APIs
- IIS application deployment, hosting, troubleshooting, SSL certificates, application pools, and authentication configuration
- Crystal Reports
- File-based integrations (FTP/SFTP)
- Great Plains and Salesforce integration
- Experience securing APIs using OAuth2, API Keys, Basic Authentication, and TLS
- Batch processes, PowerShell scripts, End-of-day jobs, financial reporting, ETL processes
- Experience with source control, work item tracking and release management processes.
- Familiarity with OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, SQL Injection prevention, cross-site scripting (XSS), and secure authentication mechanisms.
- Familiar with:
- Security and compliance (PIPEDA / PHIPA awareness)
- DNS
- Supporting legacy enterprise applications during modernization initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in healthcare, claims processing and benefits administration
- SSRS/SSIS (report/packages development, subscriptions, troubleshooting)
