Job PurposeThe Caretaker (Housekeeper) is responsible for the general cleanliness and upkeep of the building and/or grounds, maintaining the cleanliness of all offices, common areas, and residential floors in the Winnipeg Centre of Hope programs, and completing laundry duties as required.ResponsibilitiesEstablishes and monitors preventative maintenance procedures for related equipment, recommends repairs and purchases as required.Performs minor repairs in electrical, carpentry, plumbing and painting, and reports safety concerns and major repair issues.Ensures the general upkeep of the facility, including residents’ rooms, floors, washrooms, windows, and dusting; collects and disposes of garbage; and vacuums.Checks, cleans, moves, arranges and dusts furniture as required.Maintains the general upkeep of external property, such as mowing lawns, keeping sidewalks transparent of snow and ice, cleaning exterior windows, picking up litter, sweeping sidewalks, gardening/watering and pruning shrubs, and raking.Checks doors and windows to ensure building and resident security; provides access to the facility and secures the facility as needed.Restocks washroom supplies and distributes received material as required.Spot washes accessible walls, strips and waxes floors and shampoos carpets as required.Provides laundry and seamstress services; maintains the care and inventory of laundry supplies.Maintains required records and reports as necessary.Changes linens (i.E., bedding) following hazardous materials procedures.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum EducationPublic School,



and/or High School.Minimum ExperienceMore than three months but less than one year of related experience, including life skills and general familiarity with cleaning and maintenance procedures.Minimum RequirementsVaccination for Hepatitis.WHMIS Training.Valid Certification in First Aid/CPR.Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search.Adult Abuse Registry Check.Child Abuse Registry Check.Driver’s Abstract.Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention Training.Use of protective masks (as needed).Working ConditionsThis is a unionized, part‑time position at 16 hours per week. The weekly schedule is Saturday and Sunday, 7:30AM to 4:00PM (30‑minute unpaid meal break). The job involves operating industrial cleaning equipment and tools, mopping and sweeping, bending/twisting/lifting, occasional ladder work, and fine‑motor skills. The incumbent is required to lift more than 20pounds. The work requires moderate to high attention when using motorized equipment, handling hazardous chemicals, and using non‑motorized/general cleaning equipment. The incumbent must work independently while maintaining confidentiality and projecting a positive, professional, and helpful attitude. The work environment may involve exposure to garbage, isolation, monotony, odors, dealing with angry people, verbal abuse, toxic chemicals, various weather conditions, and washrooms (e.G., human waste).CompensationHourly rate: $16.52. This rate is both the target hiring range and the maximum rate.
