Assay Lab SupervisorJob Category:Metallurgy/Process EngineeringRequisition Number:ASSAY003678Location:Island Gold District, Dubreuilville, ON P0S1B0, CANJob Type:Full-TimeSalary Range:$90,000 CAD to $156,500 CADDescriptionReporting to the Chief Assayer, the Assay Lab Supervisor will participate in activities of the plant’s assay laboratory to ensure timely and accurate test results. The role includes carrying out analytical tests on ore processed in the mill, testing all mine and mill samples, sample preparation, and fire assay.Primary ResponsibilitiesParticipate in the plant’s assay laboratory activities to ensure timely and accurate test results.Perform analytical tests on ore processed in the mill to determine gold content.Participate within the onsite Environment Laboratory for internal water analysis.Test mine samples including sample preparation, wet assays, environment assays, fire assay and related analyses.Supervise assigned personnel in the plant’s assay laboratory and comply with the supervisor common core certification program.Develop SOPS for procedures utilized in the assay laboratory and create SWP/JHA as needed.Assist in the development of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), QAQC and training manuals.Perform general supervisory responsibilities for preparation and analysis of plant samples.Check that equipment is calibrated,
maintained and that chemicals and methods are proper.Compare results with standard samples for compliance with allowed tolerances and endorse test results.Support and develop an accurate and timely data delivery system back to the customers using a LIMS package.Assist in developing cost‑effective and accurate methods and procedures.Ensure availability of consumable supplies, reagents, and equipment spares.Create a safe working setting.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.Commit to safety, health, risk management and environmental standards.QualificationsUniversity degree or college diploma in Chemical or Analytical Sciences.Assayer Certification preferred.3‑4 years’ laboratory/fire assay experience with a strong mineral processing background.Experience operating laboratory instruments (AAS, LECO, ICP).Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and LIMS.Ability to analyze problems, prioritize issues, and develop timely, cost‑effective solutions.Emergency response experience is an asset.Demonstrated ability to work safely and foster safe habits in others.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Integrity, focus, and strong work ethic.Ability to lead assay team in absence of the Chief Assayer.Working ConditionsWork rotation of 7 days on and 7 off (12‑hour days); schedule may vary.Perform extended shifts maintaining high performance.Travel & AccommodationCompany will provide camp accommodation and travel allowance as needed.Equal Opportunity StatementAlamos Gold Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and value diversity.
