Multiple positions with varying FTEs.Position DescriptionPurpose : The Physiotherapist at the CBE plays an important role within the educational team, supporting student success by promoting safe and functional mobility, physical accessibility, and meaningful inclusion in the education program. Through a strength-based, consultative and evidence-informed approach, the Physiotherapist collaborates with educators, families, and other professionals to enhance student access and participation in a school setting.Accountability : This job is accountable for delivering school-based physiotherapy services that promote student mobility, accessibility, and independence through assessment, strategy implementation, equipment recommendations, and collaboration with school teams and families, while maintaining best practices and ensuring protected support across environments.Major responsibilitiesAssess students’ physical function, mobility, and participation within the school environment to identify areas for support.Develop and implement strategies that enhance students’ independence in movement and mobility, ensuring safe access to school activities and facilities.Provide recommendations for specialized equipment as well as environmental modifications and adaptations to improve physical accessibility within classrooms, school buildings, and playgrounds.Collaborate with teachers and school staff to integrate motor development strategies into daily routines,



fostering improved student participation and independence.Offer professional learning opportunities, demonstrations, and consultations to school staff on strategies that support mobility, accessibility, physical literacy and safe handling techniques.Trial, suggest and facilitate the use of specialized equipment for the school setting including adaptive seating, wheelchairs, walkers, and standing frames, ensuring appropriate training for staff.Provide ongoing guidance on safe lifting and transfer techniques, equipping school personnel with the knowledge to support students effectively and safely.Maintain current knowledge of best practices in school-based physiotherapy, continuously updating skills to align with educational physiotherapy advancements.Communicate and collaborate with families, the multi-disciplinary team and healthcare providers as needed to support coordinated care and ensure student safety and well‑being.Maintain documentation standards that align with the requirements of the Calgary Board of Education and the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.Manage caseload, demonstrating effective prioritization, coordination of teaming,



and scheduling to optimize service delivery.QualificationsEducation and ExperienceMaster’s Degree (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy.A minimum of four years of experience as a Physiotherapist is an asset, preferably in pediatric or school-based settings.Registered, or eligible for registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.Experience working in a multidisciplinary team is an asset.Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) authorizer status is an asset.Demonstrated Skills and CompetenciesSolid interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.Proficient in using technology for communication, resource development, and documentation (e.G., Google Suite, Microsoft Office, video conferencing, electronic files).Effective scheduling, time management, and caseload prioritization.Commitment to skilled learning and continuous development.Current knowledge of medical diagnoses, interventions, equipment and technologies for mobility and access challenges in the pediatric population.Experience implementing a tiered model of service delivery, from universal classroom/school strategies to individualized interventions for students with complex needs.Ability to adapt and respond flexibly within a energetic school environment.This job requires personal transportation for travel between work sites.Conditions of EmploymentPolice Information Clearance: Applicants new to the Calgary Board of Education WHO ARE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT must complete and pass a police information clearance before employment is confirmed.#J-18808-Ljbffr
