Building Service Worker Level 1Competition Number:26/111Posting Scope:Internal / ExternalPosted Date:May 26, 2026Closing Date:June 9, 2026, 4:30 PM PSTDepartment:FacilitiesWork schedule:Monday to Sunday (Shifts may vary, graveyard, as needed) - AuxiliarySalary:$33.59 per hour, Pay Grade 3, Plus 15% in lieu of benefitsJob Code:4003Employee Group:CUPE Local 50 positionNumber of Vacancies:10Auxiliary status employees will be paid an additional 15% in lieu of vacation, holiday, sick leave beyond the statutory requirement, and other benefits, per the CUPE Local 50 Collective Agreement.Perform custodial and janitorial functions at city-owned buildings and facilities.Vacuum, shampoo carpets, wet and dry mop, strip, wax and polish floors, dust, clean, sanitize and disinfect surfaces.Dispose of refuse, recyclable and green waste materials; operate various custodial equipment such as auto scrubbers, burnisher, carpet cleaner steamer, wet vacuum, regular vacuums, defoamer, upholstery steamer, power washers, leaf blowers, sweeper push along, Clorox 360 and EMist and perform minor servicing as required.Open and close various City owned buildings.Move furniture and equipment; set up meeting rooms asrequired and help with event set up; raise and lower flags as required.Clean sidewalks and outside stairs; remove snow and ice accumulations by shoveling or applying environmental ice melter.Report required building repairs; fill out order forms toreplenish inventory; stock custodian closets, washrooms with janitorial products,



respond to service building requests as required.Perform related duties where qualified.Work is performed according to cleaning schedules or is assigned by supervisor and reviewed upon completion.
