The Director is responsible for developing and implementing sales strategy, as well as providing leadership and guidance to drive current wealth sales at Alterna while ensuring an exceptional member experience.You will encourage a culture of collaboration between wealth management and our dealer (Aviso), act as an escalation point for service items and support the strategic direction to increase our wealth share of wallet. You will work closely with various internal teams to develop and implement an annual business plan for each individual team member to meet your monthly sales targets and ultimately your team’s annual sales goals. You will be compensated by our total rewards program.Key ResponsibilitiesProvides leadership and manages the day-to-day operations of the advisory support team; develops, coaches, setsindividual goals and objectives, evaluates performance, and provides frequent feedbackIn conjunction with the VP, Wealth Management, leads and implements initiatives that support the credit union’s strategy and wealth management objectivesActs as a resource to all licensed representatives through individual information sessions and demonstrations on the features, benefits, and procedures associated with investment products and processes,
conducts follow-up as required to ensure understandingAssist in the retention, training, on-boarding, and recruitment of top talentCoordinates Aviso training sessions with the Region, ensuring effective stakeholder communication and alignment with other priorities within Alterna are consideredIdentifies knowledge and training gaps; recommends and implements training initiatives to ensure staff are proficient with regulatory and administrative standardsEstablishes, manages, and maintains awareness of the organization in the local community and among professional networking groupsEnsure communication and execution of the Strategic Plan and Annual Operating Plan.Provides leadership to enhance the employee experience and create a performance-driven culture; recommends and provideswhere necessary, appropriate coaching and remedial action.Build a culture of collaboration within the Wealth team, as well as with the retail branches and Mortgage Advisor team so that members financial goals are met and member experience exceeds expectationsLead by example as an Alterna champion and show your team how to develop relationships with centres of influence in the community and maintain existing relationships to develop a large referral networkOversee and support IIROC/Wealth Advisors with member complaints, and escalate when necessaryEnsures that training and professional development needs are identified,
recommends how they can be met and monitor progress.Review statistical data regarding productivity levels, make recommendations and take action where appropriate. Provide regular reports to senior managementFacilitate the effective implementation and adoption of new technologies.Identify, recommend, and implement opportunities for continuous improvement relative to processes, procedures and overall operationsFoster a member centric sales and service culture through building partnerships within Retail and across Alterna.Conduct performance evaluations of direct reports and provide effective suggestions, positive as well as constructive feedback on staff performance. Resolve employee personnel issues.Undertakes special projects, as required.Ensure adherence to all regulatory compliance requirements as well as all policies and procedures of Alterna.QualificationsEducation / Certification / ExperiencePost-Secondary education in a related discipline, ideally at the University level, typically in Business Administration, Economics, Applied Geography, Accounting or Finance.Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar role in a financial institution, with sales management and financial advisory experience, with a significant focus on wealth managementCompletion of CSC and CPH7-10 years’ experience at business developmentDemonstrated track record in leadership, sales and relationship buildingAbout Alterna SavingsAlterna Savings and Credit Union Limited (Alterna) has delivered The Good in Banking for over 115 years creating financial services that transform lives for the better, all while giving back to our community.
