Location: Calgary, ABReports To: ControllerRole OverviewWe are seeking a highly capable Senior Accountant to serve as a key partner to the Corporate Controller within the finance function. This role is ideal for an accountant who thrives on complex accounting, problem‑solving, and process improvement. The Senior Accountant will own critical accounting areas across the business, support month‑end and year‑end close, take the lead on complex transactions and analyses, and help elevate the overall quality, timeliness, and insight of financial reporting. This role combines strong technical accounting and reporting with hands‑on operational accounting, while progressively expanding scope and leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesCore Accounting & CloseOwn and execute key components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis across multiple entities.Prepare and review balance sheet and income statement reconciliations, investigating and resolving complex variances.Ensure accurate accounting for leasing activity, including new bookings, amendments, terminations, commissions, early payouts, and related amortization schedules.Ensure all reconciliations and reporting outputs are complete and fully tied prior to Controller review.Support preparation of ASPE‑compliant financial statements, notes, and supporting working papers.Assist with year‑end audit, acting as a primary finance contact for auditors on assigned areas.Transactional Oversight & Portfolio SupportOversee and review daily transactional activity (AR, AP, cash, customer payments, chargebacks), ensuring accuracy, proper documentation, and policy compliance.Support or review:Bank reconciliations and cash reportingGST/PST filings and related complianceLease securitization reporting and data submissionsServe as a technical resource for transactional team members and help resolve non‑routine issues.Analysis, Reporting & Decision SupportPrepare management reporting, portfolio reports, and ad hoc analysis for leadership.Support lender reporting, covenant calculations,



and investor‑facing packages.Perform variance analysis, trend analysis, and financial modeling to support business decisions.Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking.Prepare, reconcile, and submit reporting packages for external funding partners. Ensure all reports tie to the general ledger and underlying portfolio data prior to submission.Own end‑to‑end reconciliation processes including A/R to portfolio, subledger to GL, and funder balances. Investigate and resolve discrepancies across ERP, lease systems, and banking data.Support and validate securitization, syndication, and tranche reporting including validation of NPV calculations, payment waterfalls, and default tracking.Coordinate and validate funder payments, syndication remittances, and cash movements ensuring alignment with reporting and obligations.Process Improvement & ControlsIdentify opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve accounting and reporting processes.Enhance documentation, controls, and workflows to support scalability as the business grows.Assist with system improvements or implementations (e.G., Dynamics 365 Business Central, lease management systems).Contribute to building a strong control environment across subsidiaries and new initiatives.Leadership & GrowthAct as a trusted partner to the Controller on complex accounting matters, technical research, and special projects, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and skill development.Proactively take ownership of ad‑hoc and/or complex problems, researching best practices, developing solutions, and driving them through to completion.Continuously expand technical, analytical, and business knowledge,



taking on increasing scope and responsibility as capabilities and experience deepen.Act as first escalation point for cross‑functional issues. Ensure all escalations to Controller include problem definition, impact, root cause, options, and recommendation.Qualifications RequiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or directly related fieldCPA designation or actively pursuing CPA5+ years of progressive accounting experience in industry or public accountingStrong understanding of ASPEDemonstrated experience preparing or supporting full‑cycle close and financial statementsAdvanced proficiency in Excel (complex formulas, data analysis, reconciliations)Strong proficiency in financial modeling and time value of money concepts including net present value and yield calculationsExperience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP systemsAbility to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple deadlinesPreferred / AssetsExperience in leasing, lending, or financial servicesExposure to securitization, structured finance, or lender reportingExperience executing and/or supporting audit engagements and responding to technical accounting questionsExperience working with multiple entities, subsidiaries, or growing organizationsStrong analytical mindset with a continuous improvement orientationWhy Join Our TeamYou’ll work alongside experienced accounting professionals who bring deep technical expertise and industry knowledge.
