Assistant Director – Child Care CentreWe are seeking a passionate, organized, and dedicated Assistant Director to join our childcare leadership team. The ideal candidate will support the daily operations of the centre while helping create a nurturing, engaging, and safe workplace for children, families, and staff.The Assistant Director will work closely with the Centre Director to ensure compliance with Alberta Child Care Licensing regulations, support staff development, oversee classroom operations, and maintain high-quality programming for children. This role requires strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with a solid background in early childhood education.Candidates with leadership experience, bilingual abilities (English/French), and experience supporting children with diverse needs are highly encouraged to apply.ResponsibilitiesAssist the Centre Director with the daily operations of the childcare centreEnsure compliance with Alberta Child Care Licensing regulations, policies, and proceduresSupport and supervise educators and staff to maintain a positive and professional work environmentAssist with staff scheduling, onboarding, orientation, and performance managementSupport classroom management and ensure developmentally appropriate programming is implementedFoster a protected, inclusive, and welcoming environment for children and familiesCommunicate effectively with parents regarding children’s progress, behaviours, and centre updatesAssist with enrolment, attendance tracking, administrative duties,
and record keepingCollaborate with educators and families to support children with diverse learning or developmental needsHelp maintain health, safety, and cleanliness standards throughout the centreUtilize computer systems for documentation, communication, scheduling, and reportingSupport both daycare and Out of School Care (OSC) operations where applicableQualificationsDiploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education or related fieldMinimum ECE Level 2 or 3 Certification (or Alberta-recognized equivalent)Previous childcare supervisory or leadership experience preferredValid Child Care First Aid & CPR CertificationCriminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector SearchStrong knowledge of child development and early childhood education best practicesKnowledge of Alberta Child Care Licensing regulationsExcellent communication, organizational, and leadership skillsAbility to work collaboratively with children, families, and staff from diverse backgroundsExperience supporting children with additional needs or disabilities is considered an assetBilingual proficiency in English and French is an assetStrong computer and administrative skillsSkills & AttributesLeadership and team-building abilitiesStrong time management and organizational skillsPositive attitude and professional work ethicAbility to multitask in a fast-paced childcare environmentCommitment to providing high‑quality care and education for childrenBenefitsEmployee assistance programIn office parkingPaid time offJob Types: Full-time, Part-timePay: $15.00-$25.00 per hourExpected hours: 30 – 40 per weekWork Location: In person#J-18808-Ljbffr
