With a rich history of over 120 years and strong connections to the communities we serve, ONTC offers a energetic workplace culture, competitive salary, an excellent benefit package—including a defined benefit pension plan—paid vacation, paid personal leave days, and discounted transportation on bus and passenger rail services.Accountability StatementThe Supervisor, Quality Assurance Inspection is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and timely completion of all types of quality assurance inspection and calibration work for internal and external projects. This position will ensure inspection requirements are met and the work is completed in accordance with all applicable internal, customer and regulatory requirements. The Supervisor will also provide leadership and direct supervision to all Quality Assurance inspectors.Major Duties / ResponsibilitiesSupervise, educate and develop a safe work environment and adhere to the collective agreementOrganize, prioritize, and plan inspections performed in car shop, diesel shop, paint shop, etc. for internal and external locomotive, freight and passenger customersEnsure work performed meets AAR, Transport Canada and other rules and regulationsProvide technical support as required to internal and external customersParticipate in Health and Safety discipline investigations,
and Intelex observations and inspectionsFirst point for QA inspector team concerns or complaintsEnsure compliance with health and safety and company policiesReview customer scope of work for various projects to support developing ITPsPropose updates to procedures, work instructions, forms, etc. to define inspection criteria and record inspectionsSupport and streamline equipment/gauge calibration processSupport implementation of incoming inspection criteria and documentationMeet daily with the team to discuss the day‑to‑day operations including prioritizing work and coordinating tasksCoordinate with external and internal customers for upcoming work, project status and inspection needsMonitor applicable training and documentation is current to meet AAR, Transport Canada qualifications including forecasting future training needsPrepare for internal and external audits, including associated documentation, participate in conducting Internal AuditsTrack training in accordance with applicable documents to ensure staff meet requirementsCoach and develop a self‑organizing team of inspectorsRequirementsSecondary School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor certificationCertification in Non‑destructive Testing (NDT) is preferred3–5 years recent experience in QA inspections3–5 years’ experience in process improvements, Association of American Railroads (AAR) regulations and ISO 9001:2015 is preferredPrevious supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environmentWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word,
and SharePointPlanning and organizing, problem solving, and conflict management skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsValid G driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 25% of the timeAbility to work occasional overtime as requiredCommitment to health & safetyApplication ProcessThe successful candidate will need to pass criminal record check, employment references, and education verification.
