Aecon Utilities is ready to become Canada’s #1 utility construction provider and we’re looking for Journeyman Powerline Technicians to help us get there.We are seeking a Journeyman Powerline Technician responsible for installing and maintaining overhead, underground, transmission, and distribution systems. Key ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret blueprints or process specificationsPerform line maintenance in a safe, efficient manner using de-energized, live line hot stick or live line rubber glove techniques on voltages up to and including 44 kVSafe operation of heavy equipment including Radial Boom Diggers, Line Trucks and all-terrain equipment as requiredOperate and maintain hand tools such as blocks, grips, jacks, hot line tools and cover up, etc.Instruct and train junior personnel in duties, secure work practices, care and use of tools and equipmentMaintain personal and group safety at all times and exercise appropriate caution when working with tension for rigging, on or near energized equipmentRespond to unscheduled outages as a result of weather, component failures, vehicular accidents, etc.Be a positive team member through open communication and active participation in crew tasksEnsure the work environment is in compliance with Aecon Health & Safety and Environmental ManualPerform other duties and responsibilities as requiredAvailability to travel and work on projects across OntarioRequired Knowledge And ExperienceJourneyman Power Lineman Apprenticeship and Trade CertificateMinimum 2 years utility experience constructing, installing and maintaining overhead, underground,



distribution systemsThorough knowledge of Provincial Electrical Utilities Regulations and provincial-specific Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and CodesDemonstrated ability to lead and effectively work on teams with a desire to provide excellent customer serviceAbility to interpret drawings, develop/interpret work instructions, and plan projects for self and othersValid DZ Driver’s License at minimumAbility to climb towers and poles, work at heights, and work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of timeSelf-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong interpersonal, team participation and communication skillsSalary and BenefitsThe expected salary for this position is $53.96 to $55.52 per hour.
