Working in a non-routine and very complex environment, the Powerline Technician is accountable for executing the maintenance, construction, and repair of the overhead and underground distribution systems within set timelines.Duties IncludeBuild, operate, and complete overhead work on energized primary and secondary systemsBuild, operate,
and complete work on energized underground systems, cables, terminations, and splicingInstall and maintain streetlightsPerform regular stand-by duty and emergency calloutsTroubleshoot and analyze underground and overhead line faults with the use of proper tools, operating maps, service maps and experienced observationCheck, repair and/or replace tools and equipmentInstall wooden, concrete, steel, and fiberglass polesInstall and replace domestic metersInstall cable in trenches and make all connectionsMaintain line vehicles dielectric capacity by cleaning and repairing boom, bucket, and jibAssist in the training of Apprentice Powerline TechniciansAssume the Lead Powerline Technician duties when requiredRequired Skills, Qualifications And ExperienceCompletion of a Powerline Technician Program with Co-op experiencePrevious Electrical Utility experienceInfrastructure Health & Safety Association (IHSA) Trades Training Program - Powerline Technician is an assetJourneyperson Powerline Technician statusDemonstrated proficiency in a Windows environment and associated software applicationsAble to perform the essential duties in all weather conditionsComfortable working at heights and in confined spacesDemonstrated experience working with required toolsAbility to work all shifts including weekends, as requiredA valid Ontario Class AZ Driver's Licence (or valid G and must obtain DZ within 5 months of hire and AZ within 12 months of obtaining the DZ licence) with an excellent driving recordWell versed in the IHSA Safe Work practices guide and Electrical Utility Safety RulesExcellent safety and attendance recordOther Success FactorsBrand ambassador – enable, engage, encourage, and exemplify the behaviours and attitudes of the brandIs customer centric and displays an attitude of commitment and excellence with service deliveryStay a step ahead – make a priority to be in-tune with key industry disruptions,
