Elevate the academic landscape at the University of Toronto as a full-time Assistant Professor in South Asian History. This position is for those skilled in innovative methodologies with a desire to cultivate rich educational experiences.

Candidates must hold a PhD and a strong research background in early modern or modern South Asia. We seek scholars who explore extensive themes such as colonial impact, migration, and economic frameworks. Teaching undergraduates and developing creative courses is a key aspect of this role, alongside research in relevant languages like Urdu or Persian.

Key Responsibilities:



• Research using innovative methodologies and archival sources • Teach a variety of undergraduate history courses • Develop new course syllabi and specialized seminars • Contribute to departmental service and outreach • Secure funding for research initiatives

Requirements: • PhD in History or closely related area • Established record of research and teaching excellence • Fluent in at least one South Asian language • Strong letters of reference supporting application • Enthusiasm for advancing equity and diversity in the field
