We own and operate 7 apartment buildings, offering a stable home to tenants who have experienced homelessness and who often manage challenges related to mental health, addiction, and trauma. Our goal is to support tenants in maintaining long‑term, successful tenancies while fostering a protected and inclusive community.Position OverviewWe are looking for a Maintenance Assistant to support our maintenance team in keeping our properties safe, clean, and well‑maintained. The Assistant will work alongside the Maintenance Worker to perform basic repairs, assist with preventive maintenance, and respond to tenant needs. This is a great opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in property maintenance while contributing to a meaningful cause.AccountabilityThe Maintenance Assistant reports to the Property Manager(s) of the building(s) they are currently assigned to and must be willing to move to other buildings as necessary, which can be with little notice.DutiesAssist the Maintenance Worker with routine repairs and maintenance tasks.Help with inspections of common areas and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.Support in responding to tenant requests and resolving minor issues.Assist with cleaning and upkeep of common areas and outdoor spaces.Help prepare vacant units for new tenants by conducting minor repairs and cleaning.Organize and maintain tools, equipment, and supplies.Support the team with emergency maintenance calls,
including after‑hours work as needed.Follow safety procedures and ensure work areas are clean and hazard‑free.What You BringBasic knowledge of hand tools and equipment used in repairs.Willingness to learn and assist with a variety of maintenance tasks.Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.Ability to work as part of a team and take direction.Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs.A positive attitude and a commitment to helping others.Preferred SkillsSome experience in maintenance, repair, or cleaning work is an asset.Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.Why Work with UsAt St. Clare's, we are committed to not only providing a living wage but also ensuring that our staff feel supported in their roles.
