Role: The payroll and advantages administrator is responsible for effective management of payroll process and procedures, ensuring that all employees are paid in accordance with Lammle’s payroll cycle and in accordance with employment standards. This includes reconciling time sheets, validating and entering data into the payroll system, preparing T4’s, adjustments, reconciling and payroll remittances.

Responsibilities:

Lead and oversee the end-to-end payroll process for 400+ employees, validating and reviewing hours worked, vacation and holiday pay, taxes, insurance, and other payroll deductions from authorized timesheets

Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and complex payroll issues, identifying root causes and implementing solutions to improve accuracy and ensure effective resolution

Authorize payroll for final submission, ensuring payroll accuracy, appropriate approvals, and compliance with company policies, procedures, internal controls, and applicable legislative requirements

Oversee payroll adjustments and special payments, including corrections, retroactive payments, bonuses, commissions, vacation payouts, and other earnings as required

Administer the preparation and processing of Records of Employment (ROEs) and other payroll-related documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legislative requirements

Act as the subject matter expert for payroll, providing guidance and support to employees, managers, Human Resources, and other stakeholders to address payroll inquiries and provide direction as needed





Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of payroll and employee information, ensuring employee records and payroll documentation are complete, accurate, organized, and maintained

Support payroll reporting, reconciliations, year-end activities, audits, and other payroll-related initiatives as required

Skills:

Ability to manage multiple priorities in an organized and timely manner while maintaining a high level of attention to detail

Proactively identify and lead payroll process improvements, using strong problem-solving skills and initiative to develop effective solutions and improve overall payroll operations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external advisors

Ability to maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by ensuring a high level of confidentiality and discretion

Qualifications:

Professional designation in Payroll or Accounting

3+ years of progressive payroll experience within a mid-sized organization, preferably within the retail industry

Experience working with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) is considered an asset

Previous experience in a payroll leadership or management capacity, with a strong understanding of payroll processes, internal controls, and best practices. Knowledge of federal and provincial payroll legislation and regulations

Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel.
