Scout HR + Talent is pleased to be leading the search for an experienced Purchasing Coordinator on behalf of one of Woodstock’s most established, award-winning manufacturing employers. The ideal candidate will have experience controlling costs, negotiating contracts and contract management, as well as building and maintaining supplier relationships.

The Opportunity:

- Utilize company’s best practices and leadership skills to guide and develop an assigned set of suppliers to achieve improvements and global competitive results in safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
- Lead assigned suppliers and commodities.
- Request for quote (RFQ) activities; create RFQs, send to suppliers for pricing, compare returned RFQs from different suppliers, provide feedback to suppliers, and complete a Total Cost Analysis.
- Create Purchasing Strategy Documents for assigned commodities.
- Responsible for setting and achieving yearly cost reductions through APR negotiation, VE/VA, etc.
- Report weekly in team meetings the progress of targets and goals (PDCA).
- Negotiations; negotiate with suppliers to get lower pricing and improved service, work with suppliers to improve their processes to improve pricing through benchmarking and analysis.
- Building supplier relationships; quarterly meeting to review performance and cost reduction ideas, supplier site-visits to ensure compliance with company standards and to understand process related to cost.
- Project management; take the lead on projects as assigned by Manager and provide purchasing support to Engineering and Production departments.
- Participate as needed interacting with other plant locations to troubleshoot issues and problem solve.
- Support supplier assessments.
- Must be able to understand the required specifications from the customers,



and review drawings(internal and external).
- Other duties as assigned

The Ideal Candidate:

Education

- Successful completion of a 2- or 3-year college diploma in Purchasing Materials Management and/ or Supply Chain Operations preferred.
- Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) designation considered an asset.
- AIAG IATF 16949:2016 Supplier Auditor Certification considered an asset.

Experience

- 2 - 3 years of experience in a similar purchasing or commodity buyer role required, with preference given to those with specific automotive manufacturing setting experience.
- 2+ years of external customer service experience needed

Skills, Abilities, and Requirements

- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office; particularly advanced Excel skills
- Robust communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain positive and professional relationships with internal teams, suppliers and other stakeholders.
- Ability to effectively manage a small group of professionals to achieve shared goals
- Ability to adapt to changing demands of production and team member issues
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Keen attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when preparing and maintaining data, records and reports.
- Ability to prioritize tasks based on deadlines and business requirements.




- Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, collaboration and achieving shared objectives.
- A valid driver’s license is required
