Elevate the educational experience of Indigenous students at John Abbott College as an Advisor for Indigenous Education. This full-time, permanent role focuses on retention and academic success for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities.
The Advisor will operate under the guidance of the Dean of Indigenous Education, directing resources and programs tailored to enhance student outcomes. Essential tasks include managing budgets, developing supportive cultural activities, and collaborating with various college departments. Your understanding of Indigenous cultures and direct community ties will drive positive changes for students.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and evaluate programs to support Indigenous students • Create and manage budgets for educational initiatives • Advocate for students across college departments • Plan social and educational activities on campus • Monitor student progress and provide targeted support
Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field • Indigenous background with community engagement experience • Experience supporting Indigenous students • Awareness of inter-generational trauma impacts • Strong organizational and communication skills
