This position can be located out of any of Stantec's southern or central Ontario offices and is also open to remote options outside of the Winnipeg or Ontario regions.Your Key ResponsibilitiesPerform feasibility studies including preliminary cable design calculationsPrepare preliminary cable installation design drawingsPrepare cable specifications for the design, manufacturing, testing, delivery, and installation of high voltage AC and DC underground and submarine cablesReview and evaluate bid documentsReview cable test plans and witness factory/site cable testingReview cable installation plans and witness cable system installation activitiesParticipate in technical and industry trade organizationsParticipate in Business Development activities to grow Stantec’s cable businessYour Capabilities and CredentialsExperience in the specification, design, manufacturing, testing,
and installation of high voltage AC and DC submarine and land cablesKnowledge of cable jointing (both factory and field)Knowledge of submarine cable protection techniquesExperience in calculating cable ampacities and thermal effects on cable ratings/designFamiliar with cable installation techniques for both land and submarine cableFamiliar with cable monitoring systems such as DTS, DAS, RTTRKnowledgeable on cable fault locating and repair operationsFamiliarity with international cable standardsKnowledge of marine survey requirements for cable installationEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering. Licensed Professional Engineer preferredMinimum of 3‑7 years of experience in the engineering of high voltage AC and DC power cables from 25 kV up to 600 kVTypical office environment: working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
