Position PurposeThe Residential Counsellor will plan and implement individualized, goal‑centered programs for adults with developmental disabilities within Lawson Ministries Programs. The role promotes greater independence, support, and the highest quality of living possible for Service Users.ResponsibilitiesPromote an environment and programming that is supportive and nurturing.Ensure that Service Users’ physical needs (food, clothing, shelter) are well met, including house cleaning, meal preparation, and personal care.Assist Service Users in meeting their emotional and psychological needs.Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of person‑directed treatment/rehabilitation plans in collaboration with Service Users, team members, and external professionals.Maintain accurate daily logs, shift reports, incident reports, and medication records using the AIMS software.Co‑coordinate with residential, day program, and other team members to provide consistent care.Develop solid therapeutic relationships with Service Users and families.Assist with Service User emergencies and transportation to appointments.Ensure the general upkeep, cleanliness, and maintenance of residence and main office.Other duties as assigned by Program Supervisors, Directors, or Executive Director.AccountabilitiesMaintain knowledge of person‑directed plans, policies,



and procedures.Support Service Users’ spiritual needs through participation in programming activities.Ensure accurate filing of Service User hard and electronic documents.Administer medication, document administration, and place orders.Working ConditionsWork environment includes Service User homes, office, or community settings.Schedule varies according to responsibilities; shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, overnights, and weekends.Education & ExperienceAccredited post‑secondary or college diploma (two academic years) in Developmental Social Work, Human Services, or equivalent.Minimum 2 years experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and vulnerable populations.Experience with behavior challenges, behavior support plans, and ABA programming.Medication administration training and experience preferred.Lift and transfer training preferred.Certifications & TrainingCurrent First Aid & Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation with Defibrillation.Non‑Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certification.Criminal Records Check (CRC) with vulnerable sector screening.Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and access to a vehicle.Skills & CapabilitiesStrong written and oral communication.Attention to detail, problem‑solving, and confidentiality with skilled ethics.Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.Commitment to the mission and values of the Salvation Army.CompensationStarting wage: $23.50/hr. The target hiring range is $23.10 to $28.88, with a maximum of $34.65 based on market, equity, and candidate qualifications.#J-18808-Ljbffr
