Responsibilities
Conduct patient histories and perform eye assessments including visual acuity tests and intraocular pressure measurements
Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures by preparing equipment and patient positioning
Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems to accurately document patient information, test results and treatment plans
Educate patients on eye health, treatment options and post-procedure care with clear, friendly communication
Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, verifying health insurance cards and handling patient check-in/check-out processes
Perform diagnostic testing for glaucoma, macular degeneration and neurologic eye disease
Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to safety protocols and infection control standards
Requirements
Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmic practice preferred but not necessary
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health and ophthalmology procedures preferred but not necessary
Excellent patient care skills with a warm, professional demeanor suitable for diverse populations
Ability to handle front desk responsibilities including scheduling and patient service
Effective communication skills to collaborate with healthcare teams and educate patients confidently
