Journeyperson Truck and Transport Mechanic

SOUTHLAND is currently hiring a Journeyperson Mechanic to join our team in Halifax. This is an opportunity to be part of a growing company that offers competitive wages, qualified growth, and work-life balance.

Reporting to the Shop Foreman, you will work in a fast-paced environment maintaining a fleet of school buses. SOUTHLAND offers a state-of-the-art environment with an emphasis on safety and training. To qualify for this position, you must be a reliable self-starter with solid interpersonal skills.

Currently hiring for night shift (3:30 pm - 12:00 am).

Wage: $43.26 per hour

Position Requirements:
Journeyperson certification
Valid driver’s license:



class 2 license considered an asset
Pre-employment drug testing
Transparent criminal record
Analytical and troubleshooting skills
Own hand tools
Fluent in written and spoken English
Gasoline and propane-powered equipment experience an asset
Computer skills

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Ongoing maintenance/repair of school buses
Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems
Respond to breakdowns
Spring and winter maintenance
Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs
