OverviewJob#:3036302Job Description:Senior Consultant, Risk GovernanceClient:Top 5 BankDuration:6 month rolling contractWork Location:Hybrid (1–2 days/week, downtown Toronto)Hours:37.5 hrs/week; Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PMSpecific in-office days TBDSummaryThe Senior Consultant, Risk Governance is responsible for providing expert consultation on large-scale business initiatives to ensure appropriate regulatory oversight and risk management practices are applied. This role leads the development and implementation of governance frameworks, policies, and control processes. The consultant will operate with a high degree of autonomy, assessing complex risk scenarios, identifying control gaps, and delivering sustainable remediation solutions across the organization.ResponsibilitiesLead management of material, systemic, and emerging risks across assigned business unitsDesign and implement control improvement solutions across products and distribution channelsEnsure compliance with regulatory, legislative, and operational risk requirementsSupport and drive remediation of control deficienciesPartner with business stakeholders and 2nd/3rd Lines of Defense on operational risk mattersAct as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders (Director-level and above)Identify and assess risk exposures, control gaps, and operational lossesLead risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategiesAct as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for risk and controlsSupport internal audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory examinationsManage audit scope, fieldwork support, and remediation trackingExecute annual audit plan activities and ongoing self-assessment processesLead control framework activities, including:Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs)Scenario analysisKey Risk Indicators (KRIs)Oversee control environments across operational, financial,
and compliance domainsRecommend enhancements to control design and testing programsReview control testing results and support deficiency identificationDeliver reporting and insights on risk posture and control effectivenessMust Have RequirementsFamiliarity with GRC platforms and control frameworks7+ years of experience in Risk Governance, GRC, or Operational RiskExperience working within large financial institutions (Top 5 banking preferred)Strong knowledge of risk management, audit, and regulatory compliance frameworksHands-on experience with RCSA, KRI, and control testing processesExperience supporting audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory examsExperience partnering with 2nd and 3rd Lines of DefenseExperience in one or more of the following areas: Cybersecurity risk; Third-party/vendor risk; Information Security (Infosec); Emerging technology risk (e.G., AI)Robust stakeholder management and communication skillsProven ability to work in ambiguous, complex environmentsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesNice to HaveExperience supporting Canadian regulators (e.G., OSFI)Experience working on enterprise-wide risk transformation initiativesApex Compensation DisclaimerApex pay scales are determined by role, experience, skill set, and location.
