Join Bigstone Health Commission as a Shelter Support Worker dedicated to creating a protected setting for individuals experiencing homelessness. Provide essential support and guidance while ensuring dignity and respect for every resident.
As a Shelter Support Worker, you will play a critical role in our shelter operations. This position requires solid communication skills and the ability to manage crisis situations calmly. Your responsibilities will include client intake, crisis intervention, and maintaining accurate logs to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure safety and well-being of shelter residents
• Conduct client intake and coordinate sleeping arrangements
• Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution
• Assist in meal distribution and housekeeping duties
• Offer referrals to mental health and community services
Requirements:
• Grade 12 education preferred
• Experience with vulnerable populations an asset
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices
• First Aid/CPR or crisis intervention certifications preferred
• Ability to work on a rotating schedule
