Job Title:Associate Director, Faculty of MedicineDepartment:Medicine Development 2Compensation Range:$8,305.08 - $12,952.33 CAD MonthlyJob Description SummaryThis fundraiser position is responsible for generating strategic prospect contact at the major gift level. The Associate Director manages a defined development program at an average $1.5+million level, or resource development activity at an average $1+million annually. Responsibilities include managing a portfolio of 75‑150 prospects, making 20‑25 solicitations and raising a minimum average of $1million annually.Key ResponsibilitiesWorks in partnership with senior management to facilitate maximum private and public sector support for the University, meeting a Faculty/unit specific annual dollar goal.Develops and manages a portfolio of major gift prospects (75‑150) and conducts 100‑200 face‑to‑face visits annually for discovery, cultivation, and solicitation of prospects at the major gift level (≥$50,000).Implements a comprehensive plan for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects and donors, managing ongoing relationships.Develops proposals and collaborates with donors to generate gifts for priority projects; closes major giftsolicitations with an expectation of 20‑25 annually.Ensures appropriate donor recognition, acknowledgement, and stewardship programs are in place.Produces donor/prospect solicitation materials and correspondence.Performs other related duties as required.Reporting and SupervisionReports to: Senior Associate Director, Director/Assistant Dean or Executive Director of Development.Works with: UBC faculty and staff involved in fundraising (VP, Development and Alumni Engagement, AVP Development, President of the University,



and other senior administrators).Contacts: Donors and outside community groups and organizations.May mentor junior development staff but generally has no direct supervisory responsibilities.Minimum QualificationsUniversity degree in a relevant discipline.Minimum five years of related experience in fundraising, alumni relations, advancement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including those that conflict with one's own.Commitment to enhancing awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.Preferred QualificationsGraduate degree and/or undergraduate degree in commerce, marketing, or economics.Proven experience in major‑gift fundraising and strategic development.Thorough knowledge of university environment and academic structure.Experience with centralized fundraising systems.Independence and sound judgement at all times.Robust analytical, problem‑solving, strategic thinking, conflict resolution skills and high attention to detail.Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills for liaising with major donors, corporate executives, and senior university administrators.Computer experience required; MS Windows environment,Microsoft Office preferred.Equal Opportunity StatementAll qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
