High School Writing Teacher

Oxford Learning – Kitsilano seeks a dynamic Writing Specialist teacher experienced in High School Essay writing and Literature to teach students in a rewarding workplace. The role focuses on delivering engaging lessons, overseeing small class sizes (up to three students), and supporting student progress using the Oxford Learning curriculum.

Position Requirements
Work after‑school and evening hours (Mon‑Fri 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm) with occasional Saturdays (10:00 am – 1:00 pm); commitment through the school year preferred, including summer.
Must teach in‑person at the Oxford Learning center in Vancouver, BC. No online or relocation options.
Mandatory vulnerable sector screening.
Reliable attendance and commitment to student success.

Education
University degree / Bachelor’s in Education or related field (Master’s preferred).
BC Teaching certification an asset.
Good knowledge of the current Grade 7 – 12 curriculum.

Experience
Experience teaching or tutoring at the Grade 7 – 12 level.
Fluent, native‑level English communication skills.




Ability to deliver interactive, student‑centered lessons.
Dynamic, energetic, outgoing personality.
Highly organized with multitasking skills for up to three students simultaneously.

Responsibilities
Teach up to 3 students at once across various levels using the Oxford Learning methodology.
Conduct both in‑person and online sessions.
Document post‑lesson notes and daily student communication updates.
Maintain a friendly, professional manner at all times.
