The opportunity
Known internally as Support Service Attendant , this is a Full‑time position in our Community Support Services team.
Schedule: Days and every other weekend
Starting wage: $19.81 per hour (inclusive of a $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The enhancement does not apply to training and paid leave.)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Responsibilities
Assist service users/clients in their own homes with non‑medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and March of Dimes Canada policies:
Personal care
Lifts and transfers
Rising/retiring
Bowel and bladder procedures
Meal preparation and feeding
Range of motion exercises
Other light housekeeping duties
Perform duties in a qualified manner, respecting the dignity and right to privacy, and maintaining consumer and staff health and safety.
Provide support to seniors in their homes; shifts will require travel across multiple locations. Mileage kilometers are reimbursed.
Qualifications and Experience
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
High school graduate or equivalent
Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain
Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities, older adults, or as an informal caregiver considered an asset but not required
Good interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills
Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care duties
Physical demands self‑analysis required upon hire
Ability to work adaptable and regularly scheduled hours
