Walter House employee that is a member of Union SEIU Local 1 apply within the first 7 days, their application will be given priority over external applicants.Position Purpose summary:To provide supervision and support to clients and contribute to safe, effective and productive operations of the HomesteadAccountabilities:Service ResponsibilitiesAppropriately model healthy life skills and socialization to clientsProvide support as needed to clients in residence, as well as clients and former clients by telephoneManage the safety and security of the building after office hours, including alarm system, evacuation, emergency managementManage interpersonal crisis and conflict situations among clientsManage behavior modification strategies with clients (positive and negative consequences, warnings and discharges) in consultation with team as requiredTrain, assign and supervise client chores and work therapy as requiredReview and complete all required written communication, including log book, communication book, general log, Initial Inquiry Forms, EMHWARE, email reports as necessaryMaintain professional and appropriate verbal communication with co-workers, on-call counselors, management,



clients and members of the public while on dutyEffectively and safely manage distribution of client medicationsAdmit and orient new clients to the residenceAnswer doors, telephones and accept deliveries as necessaryPrepare and serve meals as necessaryPerform housekeeping duties as requiredParticipate in team interactions and decision makingProcess client belongings on dischargeEnsure that clients are following guidelinesStock housekeeping supplies as necessaryAppropriately manage hazardous items such as cleaning supplies and sharpsSupervise client urine screens, breathalyzers as requiredOrganizational Responsibilities:Be in agreement with and willing to support our Mission Statement and treatment philosophyMaintain a drug and alcohol free lifestyle while on Salvation Army property and on dutyModel appropriate dress that reflects a professional office environmentParticipate in all staff meetings by attendance and participationParticipate in regular direct supervision with immediate supervisor and implement improvement in performance as directedParticipate in yearly formal evaluationRepresent The Salvation Army Homestead in a professional manner at all timesBe punctual and work all hours scheduled, advising immediate supervisor when this is not possibleRead and adhere to the policies and procedures of The Homestead Participate in staff development as required Work as an effective member of The Homestead teamThe above responsibilities must be performed in keeping with The Salvation Army’s Mission, Vision and Values, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct.Education,

The cost of the VSC is borne by the employee.Compensation: Please note that this job falls under a collective agreement. The hourly rate for the Residential Care Worker - Relief position is set at $19.97 per hour, and wage increments are provided based on collective agreement language.Compensation:The target hiring range for this position is $19.97 to $19.97 with a maximum of $19.97.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.The Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
