Support individuals facing homelessness as a Casual Shelter Support Worker with Main Street Project. This role focuses on harm reduction and critical community resources throughout the year.
As part of a dedicated team at a 120-bed emergency shelter, you will assist community members with immediate needs while embodying MSP’s core values. Your work will include problem-solving, providing individual support, and ensuring the physical safety of all participants in accordance with MSP protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
• Offer respectful support to community members accessing services
• Manage intake processes professionally
• Document incidents according to established procedures
• Restock supplies and oversee laundry services
• Collaborate with external partner agencies
Requirements:
• Experience in human services with a focus on homelessness
• Knowledge of anti-oppressive and trauma-informed care
• Ability to manage crises and de-escalate situations
• Comfortable with diverse populations and cultures
• Valid certifications in CPR and First Aid
