A leading national and international business law firm is seeking a lawyer to join its Tax group in Montreal. The firm advises private and public corporations, financial institutions, investors and entrepreneurs on strategic transactions, corporate reorganizations and complex tax matters.

The Role
As a Tax Lawyer, you will work on a broad range of matters involving corporate and transactional tax planning, reorganizations, acquisitions and financing structures.
You will collaborate closely with the business law, financing and tax litigation groups on complex mandates involving significant commercial and strategic issues.
Responsibilities
Advise corporate clients on Canadian and international tax planning matters
Participate in transactions including acquisitions, divestitures and corporate reorganizations
Structure commercial and transactional operations from a tax perspective
Draft and review tax memoranda, legal opinions and transactional documents
Analyze the tax implications of financing and investment structures
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex mandates
Participate in tax due diligence reviews
Advise clients on compliance and tax risk matters
Maintain direct relationships with clients
Contribute to the growth and visibility of the practice
Requirements
Member in good standing of the Québec Bar
1 to 4 years of relevant tax law experience
Experience gained in private practice
Strong understanding of corporate and transactional tax matters
Master’s degree in taxation or equivalent specialized training (strong asset)
Excellent legal drafting and analytical skills
Ability to grow within complex mandates with increasing autonomy
Qualified judgment, attention to detail and prioritization skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Bilingualism in French and English
