We are proud to play a key role in accelerating Canada’s energy sustainability and achieving its net-zero goals and we recognize that our employees are our most valuable asset when it comes to achieving that goal.About The RoleAs aMechanical Design Engineering Iyou will be responsible for designing mechanical systems and components both in the traditional nuclear market and in new projects to develop nuclear technology and future nuclear-powered systems.You will report to the Robotic Tooling Design Manager and be located at our Kitchener, Ontario office. This position will be offered as a hybrid role. Employees working in hybrid roles are expected to work onsite at our Kitchener, Ontario, office 2 days per week.ResponsibilitiesDevelop 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials for complex electro-mechanical first of a kind toolingAssembly and testing of custom equipment through the design evolution from prototype to finished productAssist with the development of test procedures for systems to ensure compliance with design specificationsAssist with the operation of the final tooling system in the customer facilitiesProviding technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering teamPerforming both classical hand calculations and analysis (including FEA) to qualify systems and/or components against applicable codes & standardsPreparing clear and concise design reports and technical specificationsDriving innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systemsCollaborating globally within the Westinghouse Engineering framework alongside SMEs and nuclear specialistsSupporting resolution of issues throughout design, manufacture and testing of systems and/or componentsQualificationsDegree in Mechanical Engineering0 to 2 minimum years of relevant experience; recent new graduates without experience will be consideredThe following experience will be considered an asset:Experience in conceptual design, design reviews and engineering change control processesExperience in the design/building of custom equipment typically: robotics, electro-mechanical systemsExperience working within 3D CAD systemsWe are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices.
