Job DetailsJob ID:26-16528Job Title:Senior Technology ArchitectLocation:Toronto, ON / OnsiteDuration:207 Business Days with possible extensionClient:Public SectorPay Rate:CAD $110–$115 per hourQualifications10+ years of experience supporting and managing enterprise IBM Mainframe infrastructure in large-scale environments, preferably within government or public sector organizations7+ years of demonstrated experience in Mainframe Performance and Capacity Management roles with responsibility for operational support and strategic planningStrong experience with IBM Mainframe environments including z/OS, IMS, DB2, and enterprise computing infrastructureHands‑on experience using capacity management and performance analysis tools including MICS, RMF, SMF, and other ISV toolsExperience analyzing SMF data and preparing capacity assessments, workload forecasting, and performance reportingProven experience conducting capacity planning activities for CPU upgrades, hardware refreshes, and performing what‑if impact analysis/modelingStrong understanding of MIPS, MSUs, zIIP utilization, CPU optimization, workload estimation, and performance tuning within multi‑partitioned mainframe environmentsExperience reconciling mainframe billing, ISV workload charges, and identifying opportunities for CPU cost savings and resource optimizationHands‑on experience with SAS Programming for reporting, analysis, and performance/capacity management activitiesStrong knowledge of IBM Mainframe CPU concepts including CBUs, CoD, and enterprise workload management practicesExperience supporting large‑scale Mainframe migration, transition, refresh, upgrade, decommissioning, and disaster recovery (DR)
initiativesExperience planning, configuring, and supporting installation of new Mainframe hardware platforms and infrastructure upgradesStrong experience in incident management, problem management, root cause analysis, SLA adherence, operational support, and change management processesExperience preparing technical documentation including operational procedures, MOPs, capacity plans, incident reports, and infrastructure documentationExcellent communication skills with proven ability to collaborate with vendors, infrastructure teams, application teams, operations, and business stakeholdersRole and ResponsibilitiesProvide operational support for enterprise Mainframe Performance and Capacity Management activities to sustain day‑to‑day operations of Mainframe software and program productsAnalyze Mainframe resource utilization, performance metrics, SMF data, and capacity trends to optimize infrastructure performance and ensure effective resource usageDevelop, maintain, and update Mainframe capacity plans, workload forecasts, performance reports, and infrastructure assessmentsPerform capacity requirement analysis for CPU upgrades, refresh initiatives, workload growth,
and infrastructure changes using what‑if modeling techniquesSupport Mainframe hardware refresh, migration, transition, upgrade, installation, and decommissioning activities across enterprise environmentsParticipate in disaster recovery initiatives including DR exercises, infrastructure readiness assessments, hardware implementations, and recovery testing activitiesConfigure, manage, and generate reports using performance and capacity tools including MICS, RMF, SMF, and other Mainframe monitoring solutionsSupport vendor management activities, Mainframe billing reconciliation, ISV workload analysis, and infrastructure cost optimization initiativesProvide technical expertise for incident analysis, troubleshooting, root cause identification, and implementation of preventive measures to improve system reliabilityManage operational tickets, change requests, and problem management activities while ensuring SLA compliance and timely issue resolutionDevelop technical procedures, MOP documentation, capacity reports, and operational documentation supporting enterprise Mainframe environmentsCollaborate with IT Operations, Infrastructure teams, Application Development, Production Support, and external vendors to deliver Mainframe solutions aligned with organizational objectivesProvide recommendations on infrastructure modernization, performance optimization, cost reduction strategies, and best practices for enterprise Mainframe environmentsSupport large‑scale Data Center initiatives, hardware/software refresh projects, and critical enterprise infrastructure transformations while ensuring continuity and operational excellence#J-18808-Ljbffr
