Position SummaryPosition type: Permanent.Closing date: 2026-06-04.Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintain personal knowledge and skills in accordance with the Alberta Occupational Competency Profile (AOCP) to deliver optimum patient care.Safely operate MHS-West vehicles in accordance with the Health and Safety Manual, operational guidelines, and all provincial and federal regulations.Stock and maintain vehicles in a state of readiness at all times.Work in hazardous environments to ensure the safety and stabilization of the patient.Work with outside agencies as a team in a coordinated effort on behalf of the patient.Document all patient care, assessments, and skills within the patient care report in a timely and legible fashion.Be punctual and ready to respond at the start of the shift.Act in a professional manner and handle conflict situations with good judgment.Follow the MHS-West chain of command.Create and maintain fully completed patient care reports (ePCRs) and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with regulations.Refer all media requests to the General Manager of MHS-West.Report all incidents and complete written incident report forms to the General Manager or designate.Develop and provide continuing educational requirements as required by the Alberta College of Paramedics.Maintain functional awareness of MHS-West operational guidelines and AHS medical control guidelines.Participate actively in the MHS-West Quality Assurance Program.Develop a plan for maintaining and improving self-directed professional growth.Maintain professional appearance, uniform, and grooming standards.Actively participate in public awareness and community education programs approved by MHS-West.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or G.E.D.Alberta Operators License class 1, 2 or 4.Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics.Completion of Alberta Health Services MCP’s (details unspecified).Licenses and CertificationsCurrent CPR certification.FCAR Certificate required.Physical Ability and SafetyMust be in valuable physical health with no disabilities that impair duties.Capable of lifting and moving heavy patients and extricating patients from hazardous environments.Advise superintendent of injuries that may impair duties.Awareness of hazards such as violent behavior, traffic hazards, communicable diseases, extreme weather conditions, and other significant hazards.Salary and HoursHourly wage: $30.74 - $38.79 per hour as per MHSW Central Alberta Collective Agreement.Hours of work: 12‑hour shifts—one tour of 4 days (07:30‑19:30), followed by two tours of 4 nights (19:30‑07:30), and four days off between tours.Apparatus call sign: PONO‑A2/B2.#J-18808-Ljbffr
