The Glenrose, Sturgeon and Edmonton Suburban Hospitals are seeking casual Social Workers who can support emergency department and inpatient work across distinctive settings. This position requires a high degree of independent critical thinking and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. You will have the chance to provide support to patients and families across a range of clinical activities including decision-making, finances, housing, crisis intervention, supportive counselling, resourcing, and system navigation. You will be required to prioritize workload, formulate assessments and create intervention plans while communicating closely with hospital staff. The Casual Social Worker II will demonstrate exceptional communication skills with patients, family members and hospital staff that include appropriate and skilled Connect Care documentation. Each Hospital is a unique working setting with nuance while the functions of the role and overall Social Work approach will be aligned with ALA priorities, the ACSW Standards of Practice, ethics, and all relevant legislation and policy.



This position is able to train for shifts at multiple sites.

As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Understanding of the role of Social Work in a hospital setting. High level of self-motivation. Relevant work experience responding to and managing risk, safety planning. Understanding of Social Work ethics and ethical decision-making. Demonstrated familiarity with community resources.
