Support the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of FortisBC’s core data centre and cloud infrastructure. Provide senior technical input to infrastructure planning for data centre and cloud platforms. Contribute to the IS Infrastructure Roadmap and recommend future infrastructure technology architecture. Perform infrastructure capacity planning and technology evaluations. Define and deliver infrastructure initiatives and upgrades, including requirements, scope, sequencing, dependencies, estimates, and documentation. Lead a portfolio of IS Infrastructure projects with external service providers and suppliers. Develop and execute communication plans for infrastructure upgrades, transitions, and site impacts. Participate in change management, quality control, testing, and production turnover activities. Design, implement, and continuously improve physical compute, virtualization, storage, cloud, and compute platforms. Analyze complex infrastructure requests, assess technical impacts, recommend alternatives, and specify implementation work. Provide advanced support for infrastructure systems, outages, hardware, virtualization, storage, and backup issues. Perform and lead upgrades, installations, preventive maintenance, and infrastructure repairs. Set up, deliver, install, relocate, and decommission data centre equipment. Document work in the problem management system, prepare progress reports, and administer and maintain the corporate data centre. Coordinate multiple resources and manage activities for intermediate to large-scale infrastructure projects. Collaborate with Technical Systems Analysts, Administrators, Network and Systems Administrators, external vendors, and service delivery partners. Requirements
2-year Diploma in Computer or Electronics Technology,
Computer Science or related field. 8 years’ experience related work experience. Advanced expertise with infrastructure monitoring and automation tools Advanced knowledge of data center, server and virtualization, data storage and backup, cloud technology and architect, cyber security and peripherals. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent written and oral communications and presentation skills. Excellent analytical and organizational skills, including the ability to work in a fast paced, changing setting. Ability to execute large projects. Ability to analyze problems. Leadership and management skills. Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s license. Core Competencies
