The Assistant Executive Director supports ASIRT’s mandate under Alberta’s Public Safety and Emergency Services. In this permanent position, you will provide legal advice and operational support to the Executive Director, ensuring investigations comply with relevant legislation. Your expertise will guide investigative findings, legal strategies, and oversight of sensitive cases involving peace officers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide legal expertise for investigatory processes
• Advise on evidence collection per Criminal Code
• Review materials for Crown prosecution preparation
• Analyze legal issues on complex matters
• Contribute to the development of legal frameworks
Requirements:
• Law degree and eligibility for Alberta Law Society
• Minimum eight years in criminal law practice
• Expert knowledge of criminal procedure
• Proven negotiation and facilitation skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
