The Registered Nurse (RN) – Interventional Psychiatry (IVP) will perform nursing care and clinical treatment activities related to Electroconvulsive Treatment (ECT), Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS), Ketamine therapy and other related treatments according to Providence Care standards and the College of Nurses of Ontario practice standards. The RN – IVP will work in collaboration with the Physician(s) and other members of the interprofessional team in delivering high-quality patient care per best practices.

Education & Experience:

Active, unrestricted license to practice with the College of Nurses of Ontario

6 months of acute or post-acute Medical-Surgical experience required

Basic Cardiac Life Support with Automated External Defibrillator training required

Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Preferred

One year of PACU or Critical Care experience or Critical Care Course, preferred

Inpatient mental health nursing experience an asset

Position Specific Competencies – Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of ECT and specific nursing care and activities related to the administration of ECT

Knowledge of rTMS and specific nursing care and activities related to the administration of rTMS

Knowledge of Ketamine Therapy and specific nursing care and activities related to the administration of Intravenous Ketamine





Perform pre-treatment assessment of patient/clients on day of procedure including initiation of venous access.

Coordinate both inpatient/client and outpatient/client rTMS treatments by: scheduling both inpatient/client and outpatient/client appointments, ensure required medical information and specific physician orders are in place
