Responsibilities

Builds connections and relationships with Indigenous communities, educators, Elders, and Traditional Knowledge keepers locally, provincially, and nationally with the goal of increasing participation of Indigenous people in education programs at CLSI.

Collaborates with CLSI staff, educators, subject matter experts, Elders, Traditional Knowledge keepers, or other organizations to create and facilitate the successful delivery of new and ongoing CLSI educational programming, with an emphasis on land-based learning.

Provides solutions to groups or individuals seeking advice and consultation in preparing pedagogical centric activities or resources internally or externally.





Develops and maintains production and distribution of CLSI Education resources that promote CLSI educational programming or provide educators STEM education within their teaching.

Supports and maintains the CLSI Education virtual presence including but not limited to the Education section of the CLSI website, the CLSI Education website, and social media.

Recognizing that the position has responsibility for programs involving minors, this position ensures that safety is the primary consideration in driving decisions and actions of CLSI Education programming.

Some evening and weekend hours are required, subject to program needs.

Qualifications

Relevant undergraduate degree, preferably in Education, Indigenous Studies, or Science.

Minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of Indigenous cultures, Traditional Cultural Expressions, Ways of Knowing, philosophies, practices, social and economic issues and strengths. Proficiency in an Indigenous language would be an asset but is not required.

Experience and skill with virtual platforms and basic office software is required.

Must be able to provide a vulnerable sector background check.
