Pay: $20.00 to $21.00 per hour
Job Description:
Position Requirements
All teacher‑tutors work during after‑school and evening hours: Monday‑Thursday year‑round (3:45 pm – 8:00 pm) and Saturdays from September to June (10:00 am – 2:00 pm).
Minimum availability: 2 days per week (e.g., Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays & Thursdays).
Commitment until the end of the term in June is preferred; continuing through the summer is even better.
In‑person location; must be able to commute to Mississauga. No online or relocation packages.
Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
- Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
- Teaching certification an asset
- Valuable knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 math curriculum, particularly senior math including advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and vectors
Experience
- Some experience teaching/tutoring math at Grades 9‑12 (or equivalent) level
- Strong English written and oral communication skills
- Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities
- Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
- Teaching online and in‑person
- Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
- Filling in post‑lesson notes
- Completing daily student communication updates
- Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
