Join Seabird Island as the Justice Support Coordinator, committed to enhancing community health and safety through advocacy and culturally informed practices. This position centers around client navigation and support within the justice system.
You will work collaboratively with the community and the Acting Department Manager of Community and Family Wellness. This role emphasizes coordinating care, facilitating restorative justice processes, and offering wraparound support services. By building robust relationships with justice partners, you'll promote equitable access to justice and community safety while integrating Indigenous knowledge into every interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate client care through legal systems and social services
• Provide support during court hearings and probation meetings
• Maintain detailed client records and track progress
• Use mediation skills for conflict resolution
• Conduct community outreach on restorative justice
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in social work or justice studies
• Two years’ experience in advocacy within Indigenous communities
• Ability to build trusting relationships with clients
• Knowledge of community support resources
• Driver's license for transportation needs
