Elevate student mental health as a School Based Counsellor at S.D. 83. This continuing assignment offers a collaborative role to support well-being in local secondary schools.
This 0.600 FTE position requires a Master's degree in counselling psychology and a valid BC Teaching certificate. You will consult with various stakeholders such as educators, parents, and community professionals, focusing on effective strategies for mental health. Your experience should include working with diverse needs, providing therapeutic support, and understanding best practices related to children's psycho-social development.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with educators, parents, and students for goal setting
• Provide therapeutic support within school environments
• Respond to mental health crises and student safety issues
• Facilitate referrals to community services when needed
• Develop and assess IEPs for students
Requirements:
• Master’s degree in counselling psychology
• Valid BC Teaching certification
• Experience with at-risk youth and diverse cultures
• Robust organizational skills for diverse caseloads
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (or willingness to train)
