Job Overview

If you know your way around a line boring setup like most folks know their coffee machine, we want you. This isn’t a sit-back-and-watch role—it’s hands-on, high-precision, and full-throttle. You’ll be cutting, shaping, testing, and tweaking metal like a boss, turning repaired and worn our parts into serious machinery that keeps industries moving. If you want work you can point to and say I built that, this is your next move.

Reports to: Supervisor, Field Service
Shift: 7x7, rotation of days/nights

Safety Sensitive: Yes - drug & alcohol testing, physical demand fit testing, RCMP criminal record check and submission of 5-year provincial driving record will be required
Travel: Up to 25%
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation

Key Job Responsibilities

Set up and operate portable line boring, flange facing, shaft machining, and drilling equipment

Machine and restore worn bores, pin locations, bearing fits, and other critical components to required tolerances

Support Heavy Duty Mechanics during major equipment rebuilds, component changeouts, and structural repairs

Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and repair procedures

Measure components using precision instruments including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges

Verify dimensions and ensure repairs meet OEM and customer requirements

Maintain machining equipment, tooling, and work areas in a safe and organized manner

Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers and site personnel

Qualifications/Requirements

Journeyperson Machinist ticket required (Red Seal preferred)

Experience operating portable machining equipment and performing field machining repairs

Strong understanding of precision measurement practices and machining tolerances

Experience using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and precision measuring tools

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and repair specifications

Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and resolve equipment issues independently

Experience supporting maintenance activities on heavy equipment, mining equipment, or industrial machinery is considered an asset

Comfortable working outdoors and in active mining environments

Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Customer-focused with strong communication and interpersonal skills

No restrictions for access to mine sites

Valid class 5 driver's license

Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
