Job Overview
The Department of Health is seeking an experienced Business Analyst – Business Intelligence to support the Symbio Clinical Information Solution (CIS) Program.
Current Brunswick is undertaking a major healthcare transformation to transition from standalone hospital information systems to a unified, standardized, and integrated Clinical Information Solution. The Business Intelligence function will play a critical role in enabling consistent, data-driven decision-making across clinical, operational, and administrative areas of the provincial healthcare system.
The successful candidate will act as a liaison between the Symbio Program and clinical, technical, operational, and business stakeholders across the healthcare system, including Regional Health Authorities, Service New Brunswick, and the Department of Health.
This role requires a highly experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in Canadian healthcare, digital health transformation, Clinical Information Systems, Business Intelligence, data/reporting, stakeholder engagement, workflow analysis, and requirements management .
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions involving clinical, technical, operational, business, and administrative stakeholders.
Collaborate with regional and provincial healthcare partners to gather, analyze, refine, and validate business and data requirements.
Document current-state and future-state clinical, operational, data, and reporting workflows.
Translate complex clinical, operational, and business needs into structured, implementation-ready Business Intelligence requirements.
Develop reporting specifications, analytics frameworks, KPI definitions, dashboard requirements, data dictionaries, business rules, and standardized terminology.
Translate business requirements into functional specifications, use cases, user scenarios, and user stories.
Facilitate collaboration and consensus among multiple organizations and stakeholder groups.
Support the definition and documentation of performance indicators, metrics, and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
Coordinate meetings, focus groups, governance sessions, strategy discussions, and progress planning activities.
Develop meeting agendas, document key decisions, manage action items, and follow up on outstanding deliverables.
Maintain requirements traceability logs, decision logs, risk registers, dependency tracking, and project documentation.
Lead and support quality assurance, data validation, unit testing, and user acceptance testing activities.
Prepare presentations, executive briefings,
and stakeholder communication materials.
Work closely with the CIS Business Intelligence Lead, Subject Matter Experts, clinical stakeholders, and health administrators.
Support the planning and implementation of the CIS data ecosystem.
Facilitate change and promote standardized workflows, terminology, reporting requirements, performance measures, and business processes.
Requirements Mandatory Qualifications
Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following requirements :
M1 – Education
University degree in Business Administration, Health Informatics, Information Technology, Health Sciences, or a related discipline ; OR
An equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience in:
Information management
Digital health
10+ years of progressive Canadian experience working within:
Large-scale Clinical Information System implementations
Provincial or regional health system modernization initiatives
M3 – Business Intelligence Requirements Experience
8+ years of demonstrated experience translating complex clinical, operational, and business needs into structured and implementation-ready requirements within a Business Intelligence environment.
Experience must include:
Reporting specifications
Analytics frameworks
KPI and performance indicator definitions
Business rules
Healthcare terminology standardization
Data and reporting requirements
