We are working with an established organization in Richmond that is looking to add a Corporate Accountant to its Corporate Finance team.
This is a great opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to gain broader corporate accounting experience while working alongside an experienced and supportive finance team. The position will provide exposure to accounts payable, full-cycle accounting, intercompany transactions, month-end and quarter-end processes, and financial reporting.
What You'll Be Doing
Manage various day-to-day accounting activities, with an initial focus on the accounts payable cycle
Review invoices for accuracy, appropriate coding and required approvals
Prepare recurring and ad hoc payments through various payment methods
Communicate with vendors and internal departments to investigate and resolve invoice or payment discrepancies
Assist with accounting for transactions between related entities
Prepare journal entries and complete balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
Participate in monthly and quarterly close processes
Gather and organize financial information used by the corporate team during quarter-end reporting
Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
Work with other departments to improve the flow and accuracy of financial information
Assist with process improvements and other accounting projects as the role develops
What We're Looking For
Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
Early-career candidates and recent graduates are encouraged to apply
Previous AP, accounting or finance experience is an asset, but not required
Strong working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Robust organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
Clear and professional communication skills
Comfortable asking questions, taking initiative and learning new processes
Collaborative personality with the ability to work effectively across different teams
Interest in pursuing continued professional development; candidates pursuing their CPA designation are encouraged to apply
