The function of the Operations Team Lead is to oversee the processing of all shipments, as well as the movement and monitoring while in route. Supervise the handling of shipments ensuring compliance with DSV’s Corporate guidelines as well as government regulations. This role will have direct communication with customers, overseas offices and carriers is required. This role mentors and trains new staff as well as update internal and external process changes from time to time.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily management and coordination of shipments

Direct desk level, day to day operations of the Operation Department

Champion process and procedure to meet or exceed company KPI requirements

Establish and coordinate schedules with carriers and tender shipments

Prepare and publish reports as requested

Mentor and train new staff from time to time

Proactively identify problems and swiftly implement the appropriate solution

Responsible for cost containment of shipments

Evaluate shipments, consolidate loads, select most cost-effective method of delivery

Daily Communication with customer on relevant issues and resolution

Manage new account implementation from standard operating procedure to execution

Ability to demonstrate deductive logic,



problem solving and trouble shooting skills

Effectively deal with any issues that arise within scope of responsibility

Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines

Quality, Health & Safety:

Supports organizational commitment to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 certification – Montreal location

Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.

Staff are required to ensure that their day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

Education in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study

Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a freight forwarding environment

CIFFA certificate, an asset

Dangerous Goods certification, an asset

Skills and Competencies

Proven ability as a self-starter, with ability to plan, organize, and establish priorities to meet goals and achieve results

Good command of English language, both verbally and written

Above average customer service skills

Interpersonal skills that build respected professional relationships internally & externally

Demonstrated good leadership and management skills

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Ability to manage tight deadlines

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Attention to detail and punctuality

Be authentic, approachable,



open and honest

Act as a role model for DSV values and adhere to the Code of Conduct

Language and Computer Skills

Proficient with both English and French language

Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

CargoWise experience, an asset

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer
