Weyerhaeuser Grande Prairie Timberlands is looking to add an experienced Planning Forester based in our Timberlands office in Grande Prairie, AB. The immediate work team is responsible for Operational Planning of Harvest blocks and associated road systems to deliver the Annual Allowable Cut (AAC) from the Forest Management Area.The role focuses on cutblock and road design using ArcGIS Pro, development of the General Development Plan and Annual Operating Plans, implementation of the Growth & Yield Monitoring program, and Indigenous, Stakeholder and Public Consultation. Field work averages 30‑50% of the role.ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate a solid commitment to safety by serving as a safety role model and leader.Develop road and cutblock plans to prepare harvest areas for safe and cost‑effective log delivery.Act as a liaison between planning, harvesting, and silviculture teams to support strategic forest‑management goals.Manage contract layout and historical resource assessment crews, fostering a safety and environmental performance culture.Ensure costs are understood, tracked, and actions are taken to meet or exceed plan expectations.Coordinate and track planning activities to keep harvest and road construction on schedule.Build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, industry partners, Indigenous communities, regulators,



and external stakeholders.Prioritize and manage multiple and varied projects.QualificationsA degree or diploma in Forestry with Alberta RPF or RPFT status (or eligibility to apply).At least eight years of experience, with a minimum of five years relevant to the role.Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and spatial data analysis.Other Experience and AttributesLeading safety improvement initiatives.Robust communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse stakeholders.Field skills using GPS, drone, OHV, and 4‑wheel drive vehicle.Ability to handle complex issues and drive value for Weyerhaeuser.Leadership potential within the organization.Strong engagement and communication skills across all organizational levels.Experience building collaborative, trust‑based relationships with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.Commitment to integrating Weyerhaeuser values into all aspects of work.CompensationSalary range $89,859 – $130,386 per year. Eligible for the annual merit‑increase program and the Annual Incentive Program with a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay, potentially up to two times that target.BenefitsNon‑union employees and their dependents are provided comprehensive medical, dental, vision, short and long‑term disability, and life insurance coverage.
