POSITION SUMMARY
Step into a pivotal leadership role as GeneralManager, Construction with Tahltan Nation Development Corporation (TNDC), whereyou will lead the performance, growth, and long-term success of ourconstruction division. Building on TNDC’s 40-year legacy, you will set thestrategic direction and oversee operations across a diverse portfolio ofprojects—ensuring excellence in safety, execution, and financial performance.
Reporting to the CEO or designate, you will driveend-to-end construction operations, from contract strategy and resourceplanning to workforce development and partnerships. Leading a team ofconstruction managers, you will play a key role in strengthening TNDC’sreputation, delivering high-quality projects, and supporting sustainable growthwhile upholding Tahltan values and creating meaningful impact in thecommunities we serve.
1. Operational Excellence
Providesenior leadership oversight of all construction operations across TNDC’sproject portfolio.
Be avisible and courageous safety leader, modeling TNDC’s values of Safety,Tahltan-Centred, Integrity, Respect, Trust, and Pursuit of Excellence.
Ensurethe protected, efficient, and environmentally responsible execution of work inalignment with HSE standards, regulatory requirements, and Tahltan values.
Championa culture of continuous improvement, operational discipline, andexcellence across all job sites.
Establishand enforce consistent company-wide construction standards, systems, andbest practices.
2. Strategic & Contract Leadership
Leadconstruction input into corporate strategy, business planning, and growthinitiatives.
Workclosely with Business Development, Estimating, and Finance to shape bidstrategy, contract structures, and risk profiles for new work.
Overseenegotiation, approval, and governance of major construction contracts andpartnerships.
Ensureeffective contract administration and risk mitigation across activeprojects.
3. Financial & CommercialPerformance
Maintainfull P&L; responsibility for the construction division.
Develop,manage, and deliver annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financialplans.
Monitorportfolio-level financial performance, margins, and cash flow; implementcorrective actions as required.
4. People, Culture & CapacityBuilding
Provideleadership, mentorship, and direction to Construction Managers andSuperintendents.
Buildand execute a long-term workforce strategy, including succession planningand leadership development.
UpholdTahltan cultural values and ensure construction operations positivelyimpact the Tahltan community.
Facilitateemployment, training, and advancement opportunities for Tahltan members,supporting long-term economic self‑sufficiency.
5. Partnerships, Stakeholder &Community; Relations
Act asa senior leadership representative for TNDC with key clients, partners,regulators, and community stakeholders.
Maintainand strengthen relationships within TNDC partnerships, ensuringtransparency, trust, and alignment.
Proactivelymanage and resolve escalated project, partnership, or client issues.
RepresentTNDC in industry forums and strategic engagements.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Degreeor diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, BusinessAdministration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum10 years of progressive leadership experience in heavy civil or miningconstruction
Minimum5 years in a senior leadership role with full operational and financialaccountability
Provensuccess managing complex, multi-project construction portfolios withstrong financial performance
Experiencewith Lean Management / Lean Construction principles is an asset
Strongleadership, strategic thinking, and financial/commercial acumen
Deepunderstanding of construction operations, risk management, and projectdelivery
Abilityto lead diverse, multi-site teams in dynamic environments
Excellentcommunication, negotiation, and decision-making skills

WORKING CONDITIONS
Office-basedwith frequent travel (approximately 50%) to job sites and field offices.
Periodsof high workload and flexible hours may be required to meet operationaldemands.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-employmentdrug and alcohol screening and fitness for work assessment where required.
ValidClass 5 driver’s license and abstract.
SUPERVISION
The TNDC Construction Managers report directly to this position. Field staff reporting to the ConstructionManagers are indirect reports to this role.
