In addition to this analytical responsibility, the role coordinates the diverse granting initiatives of The Winnipeg Foundation, ensuring that each process aligns with the Foundation's mission and goals.The incumbent will cultivate a deep and nuanced understanding of the charitable sector, as well as the specific needs and challenges faced by various organizations and projects. Furthermore, they are expected to embody The Foundation's values by serving as a dedicated ambassador within the community, fostering strong relationships and trust with both grantees and donors.Core Areas of ResponsibilityGrants ProcessingEvaluate grant applications and conduct appropriate due diligence to determine an application’s meritRecommend funding decisions to the grants committees and the VP of Community Impact, as appropriateProvide program information and support to organizations seeking funding from The FoundationReport ManagementDevelop concise reports to support the recommendations developedAttend meetings of grants committees and respond to questions from committee members regarding grant recommendationsEnsure appropriate follow-up and aftercare for granteesCapture and report on the impact of grants that have been awardedCoordinate granting initiativesParticipate in relevant networks, working groups, and committees to maintain a broad and clear understanding of the charitable sectorSupport other duties that are assignedEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree or college degree related to non-profit management, program development and evaluation, community leadership, or an area of relevance to the grants being made (arts, social services, healthcare, etc.)3-5 years of experience in the charitable sector (or in a role serving the charitable sector)An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will also be consideredExperience in program development and managementSkills and AbilitiesExhibit strong knowledge and understanding of various non-profit organizationsA deep passion for philanthropy, the non-profit sector, donor stewardship, and making a positive impact within the communityDemonstrate an understanding of community developmentDemonstrate a well-developed sense of empathy, patience, humility and inclusive approaches to engagement within and across communitiesThrive in being in a supportive role while confidently managing a limited portfolioExcellent verbal and written skillsExceptional interpersonal, presentational and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and effectivelyA strong work ethic and a high level of initiative and reliability.
